Hi there, Cadillac owners. Today, on your 2016 Cadillac SRX, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's base plate. And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. The base plate itself is gonna be hidden completely behind the bumper, and you're really only gonna be able to see the safety chain attachments poking out here through the front. And then if we look through the opening that we did have to trim out just a little bit for, for our attachment point here. But it's tucked so far back that unless you're really looking for it, you're not even gonna notice that it's there. more

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Cadillac Escalade- Video

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Cadillac Escalade

Rob: Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Kit on our 2016 Cadillac Escalade. Now the whole reason why you'd want a base plate for your Escalade is if you have a motor home and you want to take your Escalade with you. Because let's face it, motor homes are rather large and once we get to the campground or wherever we're going, it's a lot easier to take our Escalade to the gas station. We want to go out to dinner or just need to make a quick trip, it's a lot easier to drive this around because it's a lot easier to maneuver and we can just go where we're going without having to hook everything else back up. And our base plate's going to give us that solid connection point so we can hook our tow bar up and safely pull our Escalade down the road. Now I know a big thing with our Escalade is we don't want to have anything that's going to look really gaudy or too much on the front that's going to change a whole lot. Now I know you can see these arms are sticking out, which really isn't the best look, but when we're not towing, if we pull on this pull ring, we can pull the entire arm out. more

When we want to actually hook up, we have these dust covers here that go inside the base plate when it's not being in use with the tow bars. You pull those out, we take our removable arms, we stick them in horizontally for this tab, push it in and rotate it until the pin locks in that spot there and it holds it in place. It's the same on the other side, just like that. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2013 Cadillac SRX

Speaker: Today on our 2013 Cadillac SRX we will be installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part number BX1690. With our base plate installed there's not very much at all sticking out from the front of the vehicle. It's a very clean look, so you don't have to worry about running your knees into anything while you're walking around the front of it. It comes with these plastic dust caps here to keep any dirt and debris out of where the removable arms go into. That way, when you actually do need to put them in to tow your vehicle, they go in nice and smoothly; you're not fighting the arms at all. They just pop right in there and they pull out real easily, but not easily enough that they'll fall out while you're driving down the road. Here's our removable arm. more
